OBJECTIVES
-
Develop students awareness of color
-
Develop fine motor skills and control
PREPARATION
Step 1
Place a generous amount of DERIVAN LIQUID
TEMPERA paints into each of the small containers.
Step 2
In each of these containers add a marble,
and a plastic spoon. Step 3
In the lamington tray place a sheet of A4
paper and smooth down.
CLASSROOM ACTIVITY Step 1
Get students to pick which colors they like
and, using the spoon, scoop the marbles out
of the container and drop them into the lamington
tray.
Step 2
When the marbles that the students want to
use are in the lamington tray, get them to
gently tip the tray from side to side. This
will make the marbles roll around the tray.
Be careful - vigorous rolling will make the
marbles come out of the tray.
Step 3
When the student is happy with the result,
remove the marbles, and place them into the
container of water to be washed, and then replaced
into the appropriate container ready for the
next student.
Step 4
Remove paper, add the students name, and hang
out to dry.
TEACHING POINTS This
is an activity that will need reasonably close
supervision. There should be no more
than two students participating at any one
time.
Discuss with the children thoughout the activity
the colors they are using. Also observe their
fine motor skills. How easily can they get
the marble out of the container? Are they able to control the tray
enough to make the marbles go where they want
them to? |
